WELCOME TO SPICY APPLES!
Spicy Apples inspired by MERAKI [may-rah-kee] (adjective) – meaning:
This is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, with passion, with absolute devotion, with undivided attention, creativity, or love. When you put “something of yourself” into what you’re doing, whatever it may be. MERAKI is often used to describe cooking or preparing a meal, but it can also mean arranging a room, choosing decorations, or setting an elegant table.
I want to follow MERAKI and apply it to Spicy Apples. I wish you to experience this through these: products, events, cooking demonstrations, and classes that we want to share with you. This will be an unforgettable experience.
We, at Spicy Apples take MERAKI seriously.
LEONORA'S JOURNEY
Leonora’s journey with food began in the picturesque Boland, where her grandmother’s sugar artwork and her mother’s meticulous meal planning inspired her love for culinary arts. From her father’s Friday pasta feasts to studying Home Economics at the University of Stellenbosch, Leonora’s passion for food has been unwavering.
Her career in food services management and later in healthcare underscored her belief in the healing power of a nutritious diet. When her children were young, Leonora embarked on a new adventure: Spicy Apples, a catering business that quickly blossomed into a hub for weddings, corporate events, and culinary education.
In a challenging moment during the Covid pandemic, Leonora rediscovered her true calling: teaching and sharing her culinary expertise. Guided by faith, she envisioned a demonstration kitchen where she could inspire others through beautiful creations and delicious dishes.
That vision became a reality at Beckhuis, where a perfectly timed encounter with Alet led to the realization of her dream. Now, Leonora invites you to explore Spicy Apples—a place where food meets friendship and learning, where every meal is a love letter meant to be shared.
Join Leonora in celebrating life’s moments with food, wine, and newfound culinary skills. At Spicy Apples, we believe that food is more than nourishment—it’s a gesture of love, care, and connection that transcends generations. Discover the joy of cooking and the art of hospitality with us. Welcome to Spicy Apples, where every dish tells a story.
